It was -15 below when we set out to the home of Dallas Wildeve. The drive to Sutton reminds us of our childhood in Alaska. Palmer slowly disappears in our rearview mirror and is replaced by some of the most breathtaking landscape in the world. Harsh mountains rise out of the river, ridges turn pink in the glow of sun. We understand why Dallas prefers this country.
Nestled at the end of a series of switchbacks and mountain roads, her home is the stuff of Alaskan dreams. It is quaint and quirky, full of color, sunshine, greenery. It fits her. Because it is her.
The first time we met Dallas in person was on a creative collaboration with Relic and a few other creatives. She wore a felt hat, was grinning ear to ear and was packing buckets full of foliage up the side of a mountain. Literally. Another vendor introduced us and we fell in love with her humble charm, organic style and creative artistry. Since that first meeting, we have had the pleasure of her professional company at many weddings, elopements and events. And Every. Single. Time: We love her work more than the last.
So, we decided that we wanted to take a little time to honor her as a creative professional by showcasing a little bit of who she is and what she is about, and as a natural conclusion, why her work is simply stunning. If a photo is worth a thousand words, what better way is there for us, as photographers, to introduce Dallas to our audience than through our very own lens? We spent the day in her company, photographing a few of the details that make her who she is. Please take a moment to look through these images, soak in her words, appreciate her artists soul and follow her work.
